Here’s the second cocoa brown knit top I sewed to start off Winter styling.

This style feels great

If you still have McCalls 6614 in your patterns, use it for Winter.

You’ll see the line drawing provides 4 options. The princess seaming provides the design opportunities to colour block.

You can also make the zipper hoodie with a plain neckline sans the hoodie.

The same too for the raglan top – add the hoodie.

This is my second cocoa brown top for this Winter. It’s a fashionable layer.

Minerva Core Range Melange Sweater Knit Stretch Fabric Brown was my choice before I knew more about this colour being on trend this Winter.

The fabric is one of Minerva’s core fabrics. I chose this colour because it was the darkest colour in the range on offer.

This fabric has some stretch as it’s poly spandex. Just enough spandex to keep the fabric in check!

The knit is fine and the threads seem to be black and brown. That suited my needs.

The colour doesn’t run but the fabric does fray. There were little chocolate bits on my carpet as I sewed this fabric even after overlocking the seams edges separately.

I used a slim zigzag stitch for the seams.

As I said in a previous post, make sure you use sewing threads that you can see against this fabric. Why? It makes unpicking a whole lot easier. This knit allows the stitching to embed into it.

This knit is now a hard working fabric for 2 new Winter layers.
