Vogue 8805 sneak peek

Double gauze is the most comfy fabric to wear, especially if there’s a bit of fitting in the shape of your garment.

I’m really late to the Vogue 8805 party as this pattern was printed in 2012 however this was a dead easy pattern to adjust and use.

I have a C cup and I lowered the neckline by 3cm and shortened the body by 4cm. Lastly I lowered the centre back on the back body by 2cm to accommodate my caboose. The key shape I added was to grade the lower panels in by 3cm at the hem.

I think sewing this pattern has given me confidence to use double gauze fabrics more now and the confidence to get the proportions right for my shape. There’s a double gauze dress I made last year that I’ll post up here shortly.

Sewing with double gauze is a good experience because the fabric is easy to mark, easy to overlock and easy to fit. The fabric feels like a warm hug throughout the day. It’s a lovely layer to wear.

There’s a wee bit of topstitching on this version and the side seams matched so I’ll definitely make this dress again.

I’ve used size 12 at the bust and shoulders. Size 14 is my waist and hips.
