New Look 6210 in View B was my pick to showcase this month as Minerva Brand Ambassador. The pattern was free. The fabric is from my stash.

Right now we’re in peak Summer here in Australia. It’s hot, humid and changeable. This New Look pattern has so many possibilities to create a simple day dress. You can make it into a beach cover. With the right fabric this pattern would be an awesome party dress.
In this instance I make this into a basic day dress for the holiday season.

My fabric is stash fabric and this knit fabric has the right amount of stretch and weight to make this into a great day dress.
Views A and B are racer back styles. Honestly if you are on the hunt for a similar style top, use this pattern and cut it to your hip length or higher depending on how you want to wear your own top style from this pattern.
At the bust I used size 10. At the waist and hips I used size 12.

The key adjustment I made on this pattern was across the back shoulders and on the front bodice. I folded out 2cm out of the racer back shape across the top shoulders. I also took out the same amount from the armhole binding pieces.
This is simple adjustment to make and it make a lot of difference to create a comfortable fitted dress.

If you have a sway back adjustment this is a great pattern to have this shaping right where you need it. There is a centre back seam that provides you with an easy place to add the shaping you need.

For new sewists, when you sew with knits, you don’t need an overlocker if you only have a sewing machine. A very slight zigzag stitch is all you need to make the best of this pattern and any amazing knit fabric you can get your hands on.
In an ideal world with an ideal figure, I wouldn’t need this adjustment but the reality is, I have to make this adjustment so the dress or top, sits properly on my body. I sew my own clothes so they fit me well and this New Look pattern provides some really easy places to make this pattern fit properly time and time again.
