Katherine blouse by Style Arc is a great top that I want to make again and again.

I wore this top on one of our daily walks and the shape is gorgeous to wear.

I took a lot of time trying to get the gathers balanced across the neckline and this viscose challis fabric was the absolute best for this Katherine blouse.

The fabric

I have to say this viscose is really lovely as is and it was such a dream to both sew with and wear. It washes easily and is quick to iron. I had zero problems with this fabric.

The background colour is what I was hoping to include in my wardrobe so I can wear it either to the office or on weekends with jeans.

The raglan sleeves with these gathers make this blouse look soft and it’s still comfy to wear.

This fabric has such a great print that when you’re picking the thread to sew it with, you don’t have to be that accurate.

About the pattern

This is a peasant style blouse but there’s nothing peasant about it. It’s a lovely style and the features make it so. The front tab opening and buttoned cuff took a bit of slow sewing to get right and it was worth taking the time to make it properly. I felt the need to make each part of the pattern work, on the first try.

I usually make a few adjustments with patterns as I make them but I left this pattern as it was designed.

If I decide to make the neckline closer to the neck, I would leave the bodices and sleeves as is and only adjust the neckband. Seriously, this is a straightforward blouse to make in 1 day.

The only instructions that come with diagrams are the front neck placket. Thank you Style Arc. This is the key construction technique I really needed help with.

Styling

When we do go back to working in the office, I’ll have to make a few more of these blouses with some lovely viscose fabrics.

For the time being, it’s Winter now in Australia and while our weather is dry, during the middle of the day, I can wear this blouse outside.
