Rylie shirt in white

The white tie front shirt is the version I saw a lot when we travelled this year.

Visiting Copenhagen opened my eyes to lots of new designs and this tie front style was really popular when we were out and about.

@designerstitch launched Rylie shirt (3 versions in the pattern) and I used a basic white fabric from my stash.

Sewing a ready to wear style allows me to wear clothes that fit well, no matter how my shape changes over time. I definitely know this is a popular style and it’s nice to have my own version that fits!

When I see a style that is actually being worn, that’s when the pattern search in my stash happens.
From what I saw, many shirt versions seemed to be made with poplin fabric. The softer style fabrics held the front tie gathers the best for me.

If I used a firmer fabric, I suspect I would need to replace the gathers with pleats to flatten the front tie feature.

Shirt changes:
✔ Body shortened by 5cm (size 4)
✔ Sleeves shortened by 4cm with simple cuff placket

The fabric for this white shirt is a poly and has creases in the fabric. Lots of drape made this a good toile shirt fabric to get the shirt fit right.

Again I’ve paired this white shirt with my black Designer Stitch Peyton Jeans.

Really enjoying the style challenge of tucking in tops again. When I shopped my wardrobe, there were at least 5 belts that are being used again.

There’s a asymmetrical shirt at the end that I’d like to sew next
