All my sewing anxiety does pay off.

Not only is this fabric colour amazing in real life, it adds a pop of colour when you’re in a basic black mood. That’s Winter for you.
That’s something to consider while you’re planning a jacket for the season.
In this case I’ve enjoyed the pleasure this colour blue gave me as I worked on my very first Tello jacket. Pauline Alice Patterns are a go-to for me. Maybe because I also pattern test for her from time to time. She’s really helpful!!
I’m an unlined jacket snob. There I’ve admitted that I love a good lined jacket.
The thing is, creating a lined jacket with medium weight fabric can weigh you down. Pun intended.

A light twill can easily be lined.
A medium weight twill like this one, lends itself to utility style jackets. Medium weight fabric simply needs gorgeous bias trim so that feeds your design motivation.
In this case, my sewing anxiety screamed try the bias trim but in the same colour, if you can find it.
I think the beauty of this Tello design are the pocket variations.
Pauline Alice designed this jacket back in 2017 and it’s taken me this long to actually try this pattern.

Pauline Alice has an eye for quirky and fun design ideas so if you’re in for a treat, I’d try this utility jacket.
Her design has a lot of topstitching that is a real skill to practice as well. On this version, I was trying to get the size right.
Seeing these pictures shows me I should probably shorten the jacket by 5cm. I do appreciate this length when it’s really cold outside.
