Vogue 8805 is a really handy dress style. No zipper. No buttons but you do need to get your lengths and widths right so you always have a handy dress you can grab at a moment’s notice.

Now for the sewists who struggle with hems, the black underlining at the bottom is longer than the green fabric to act as a frame.
As I mentioned on Instagram, the green embroidered fabric was off the factory floor that the Makers Society sold. I used it at the top and bottom of this dress. The top green is underlined with white poplin fabric scraps. The bottom green is underlined with black rayon and I let it be longer than the green to balance off the print in the middle.
The print was bought from The Fabric Store is a really soft so it’s comfy to wear.
In my original planning I thought Black/Print/Green combo would work but I felt the green didn’t work well. Hence my deciding to use the green embroidered fabric. There was some piecing involved under the sleeve but you’d never know. Except now I’ve told you.
The white guipure trim I bought from The Sewing Basket was the grooviest trim I’ve ever seen so I used that at the front horizontal seams.
Now to find a warm beach somewhere to promenade the afternoon away.

Lovely. I have this excellent pattern too. And I love the dresses I’ve made from it!
