The Designer Stitch Kora Dress and Minerva’s Teardrop Terrace print are a perfect pairing — vibrant, fluid, and full of personality. This print has a beautiful sense of movement, and its soft drape works effortlessly with Kora’s clean lines and gently flared skirt.

The fabric I’ve used is Minerva Exclusive Teardrop Terrace Recycled Charmeuse Silky Satin POD Fabric | Minerva This was a fabric I was given as part of my Minerva Brand Ambassador commitment a few years ago.
My March sewing plans were…I thought I could finish this pattern test version before a few trips in March but that didn’t happen. The reason was I should have graded the waist to size 4 or 5. I was able to cut the dress pieces using size 3.
I did my first try‑on with the view to finishing this pattern test on time. The sleeves were cut and sewn and when I tried on the dress, I was thwarted. The waist was tight and I just couldn’t figure out what to do next with no time left.
It was time to put the sewing aside and pack my bags for my travels.
After a few days back from travelling I recut some fabric and added that to the front waist. I added a total of 6cm to give myself the shaping and comfort I prefer.
Then the bodice was huge at the bust. Well I now know I’m now a B cup and I had cut the C cup so the next step was to recut the front closure and remove about 2cm where the buttons sit. The pale blue buttons were in my notions stash as was the zipper.
Unpicking this part of the dress was tricky but worth doing. Thankfully I’m all good to unpick and resew anything to ensure it’s a good fit.

These small adjustments made a big difference, giving the bodice a smoother line and a more accurate fit through the upper body.
My unpicking skills are my key strength.
The skirt length became a fun conversation at home.
When I tried the dress on with heels, my husband suggested a below‑knee hem — and he was absolutely right. The longer length balances the bold print beautifully and adds a touch of elegance to the overall silhouette.
Sewing the Kora in Teardrop Terrace gave me challenges everyone faces when they are using a new pattern. First time sewing of new patterns mean I have to accept there will be adjustments.
The result is a dress that feels polished, comfortable, and full of colour — a standout addition to my handmade wardrobe.
