Paloma top

There’s something special about ringing in 2026 wearing clothes I’ve sewn myself.

I used the Paloma Top/Dress pattern from Swim Style Patterns @swimstylepatterns and gorgeous white Broderie Anglaise fabric from Minerva @minervadotcom – Minerva Brand Ambassador role. The gathered top trend has been everywhere in ready-to-wear, so when I saw this pattern (with a video tutorial!), I jumped right in.

Big thanks to @birdy_sew_obsessed and @funkbunny for their clever mods—I added a side tie and a snap closure at the back neckline.

For my black version, I lowered the waist tie by 2cm and shortened both peplum hems by 4cm.

I’ve got more cotton poplin waiting… because I usually make each pattern three times. So expect another Paloma in 2026!

See how easy it is to pair a solid colour with anything.

The red denim skirt is McCalls 8149.

The white jeans are Designer Stitch pattern Peyton jeans.

I now have a versatile Summer black top in a cool fabric to get me through the party season.
