Riley shirt

How long does it take to sew that fabric you bought ages ago?

Don’t answer that – let me tell you about this print instead.

🌸 This gorgeous blue floral came from @supercheapfabrics and sold out fast earlier this year.

I first spotted this print on Margaret’s top, @loves_sewingandknitting and we had a lovely chinwag about where to find fabrics like this.

👔 The shirt? It’s the @designerstitch Riley shirt pattern.

This time, I went for the classic version with a full placket cuff (thanks to Saremy’s fab @sewsewlive YouTube tutorial for helping me conquer my fear of precise sleeve details!).

The written instructions are great. I do need a reliable video to kick start me from time to time ⚽️🥅

That’s my #sagamNeotericNovember story for @suestoney@sewing_in_spain and @sewingreloaded

My earlier Riley shirts had side front ties, but this one is all about that timeless shirt vibe. Here’s the twist: this style loves drapey fabrics… and this print isn’t drapey. So, I added angled front darts for shape.

Still, I love how versatile it is – worn loose over trousers or tucked in for a hint of waist.
