Feeling very 70s with this knit, I used Simplicity 9376 for the pants and Butterick 6494 for the top.

I love the coords that everyone is wearing in the northern hemisphere for Summer.

A tracksuit or athleisuresuit is what I need right now.

When in doubt, I choose navy for my Minerva Ambassador makes. Navy always pairs well with dark denim.

A key feature with tracksuits is the piping.

Now I was tempted to go full brand name tracksuit stripes and then thought, just add some white piping before you go crazy.

I can tell you the large white ric rac almost got into this make but I held back.

This piping has stretch in it so using this white was a no brainer.

This tricot brushed navy knit has 10% stretch across the width but it feels like less than that.

Yeah, so play it safe and go with a trim that has movement.

I’ve sewn Simplicity 9376 at least 6 times so I was able to cut the pants out and sew them up in a day.

Adding the piping to the pockets was tempting but again, I edited myself back and simply added piping to the leg side seam.

Can I tell you a secret?

There’s no need to finish the seams.

There I let the cat out of the bag.

Now onto Butterick 6494.

I’ve sewn this before when I had a smaller waistline.

Recently I grabbed my favourite prior Butterick 6494 and added godets on the side seams and on the back princess seams so I could keep wearing this top now.

That meant I knew how much added width I needed for a new Butterick 6494 in this tricot brushed navy knit.

Don’t ask to see my adjusted patterns.

I will be retracing the adjusted patterns so they are all on one piece of paper again.

For this version, I lowered the front collar and kept the front vent high enough to keep out the cold while still letting me easily pop this top over my head.

When it finally starts to get cold in the northern hemisphere, try using this fabric to make your own tracksuit.
