DIY Jeans and Polo Top: Fit Tips and Tricks

A plain pair of jeans and a woven polo top.

I’ve used Peyton jeans pattern by Ann of @designerstitch and Butterick 3386 using fabrics from the Sewing Basket.

I made a silly boo boo with these straight leg jeans.

The denim has no stretch but I did find they did have some stretch when I bought this denim.

Love the colour and it was a bit tight when I tried them on before adding the waistband.

Once I adjusted the waistband to fit me, I wore these jeans on the plane, during our holiday and even got really drenched visiting Milford Sound.

The moral of the story, you can make anything fit and be happy with your boo boos.

Regarding Butterick 3386, I used an invisible side zipper to make the top more fitted. It’s a pullover style top but I wanted some shape at the waist so this top is an experiment.

The blue raglan sweatshirt is one I made years ago and it gets good wear now that it’s paired with these jeans.

Bring on Autumn.
