Elevate Your Summer Wardrobe with Prints

Not on holidays? Try a print that reflects a tropical holiday.

While it’s the middle of Summer here in Australia, you might want to plan your next Summer break by seeing how great this fabric is.

This panel print has lots of dark and light colours you can focus on.

Personally I love the large bird as the feature of this fabric so I made sure I placed this part of this print kinda front and centre.

McCalls 8167 has this floating dress with a high low hem. The neckline can be deepened if that suits your style. I think I would lower the neckline for another version. I think the neckline is high for the neckband version. I think this would be a great feature to use a chain link for a more high end look.

This pattern is new to me so I had to check the sizing on the pattern pieces to see what size I really needed. Checking the ease that pattern is designed for is a real eye opener.

For this dress, I checked the measurements and there was plenty of wiggle room to cut the small size. When I make the next version I’ll choose the medium size at the bust and then small for the rest of this dress pattern.

When I cut the dress, I placed the centre front on the fold so there is no centre front seam to break up this print. If you do this, check the front facing to make sure it matches the pattern.

The back of the dress has most of the light blue sky. The front has all the dark colours that I love.

Now I did cut the sleeves for this dress. Then I realised when you’re on a Summer holiday you want to show off your sun-kissed skin. So I decided not to use the short sleeves for this dress.

This pattern has a few sleeve options so you can possibly use crotchet fabric for the trims or the whole sleeve. I do love the ruffle sleeve version.

The hem on my version is modified for my height. The pattern hem is great for taller people than me. What you can see here is a much shorter back hem.

So for this current Australian Summer, this is a wonderful dress to wear for parties on the harbour watching the sunset
