New cozzies

Kwik Sew 2962 is a classic racer back swimsuit with an internal bust shelf.

The internal bust shelf is easy to sew. It really is and it’s very supportive.

I didn’t add bust cups in it on the latest versions that I’ve sewn. Well not yet anyway.

I used my humbler home sewing machine to sew these cozzies. You don’t need to use an overlocker or a coverstitch machine to sew swimwear.

The elastic sewing stage takes patience. My strategy is to sew the elastic on all the openings first – neckline, armholes and leg. This takes careful pinning so I ‘production sew’ this stage.

Once the elastic is initially sewn in, the last row of stitching when you flip the edge inwards is a breeze, because you did the hard work when you sewed the elastic in the first time.

I’ve been using this pattern for over 10 years now.

Above is my now well worn Julia Allison Cost version.

This white floral version ‘only’ needed the elastic to be sewn in so I completed that task yesterday afternoon, as a treat for getting my tasks done this week.

An old pattern sewn with new fabrics.

Brilliant.
