Denim and lace sneak peek

Denim blue and lace is what I came up with after making a dress from this Minerva Core Range Stretch Woven Slub Linen Look Viscose fabric.   Now that I’ve had another read about this fabric information, this fabric has 3% spandex with 30% stretch across the width.   That’s so handy to know when you need a long sleeve top to wear when it’s hot and humid.

I’ve had an obsession with Simplicity 8909 because this pattern provides a range of sleeves and a no sleeve option with this dress pattern.   This version, not in the pattern, is my top version using the sleeves on View A.

The lace was in my stash and while the lace trim is not white, it’s a cream colour that works well with this denim blue colour. That’s daring you say? In my mind adding lace to fabric for everyday wear is daring for me. This year I’ll be trying a few things with any left-over fabrics from my main Minerva make.   Speaking of which, I’ve sewn the dress version of Simplicity 8909 because the fabric is soft and the dress style is loose and comfy.

You get first sighting of how great this fabric is to work with and add your own element of style to it.   I’ll reveal how I’ve styled this top and the actual dress soon.
