Hermione

I’ve never thought of crepe fabric as a Summer fabric. It gets way too hot and sticky in Sydney for Summer and parts of Autumn.

But I really wanted to try using Named Clothing’s Keilo dress this year.

If you’ve made this pattern, there are a few points to it that need tweaking so this style suits your shape.   I’ve made this style twice since it was first launched and made two adjustments to it. First I made were to ensure the waist ties were where my real waist is. These days my waist is at the same place just bigger.

The second adjustment was to increase the width of the shoulder seams. I did this for 2 reasons. I want to wear dresses that cover bra straps. I also want dresses that sit on my shoulder line. The shoulder lines are about 2 cm wider towards the shoulder point. The shoulders are longer on the back pattern than the front. Again there’s a 2 cm difference.

As I’m short, the length of this pattern is above the knee.   So I’ve dragged this pattern out again for a new fabric from Minerva. I have a John Kaldor print -John Kaldor Hermione Crepe Fabric Yes I chose a print with a black background. I guess that’s the most comfortable print I could select in case I wanted to wear it for dinner or a night out in the Summer months.

I’ll show you how that turns out next.
