Scissors

What tools make sewing easy for me?

Large fabric scissors

1.Scissors

I still use handheld scissors. That Wiltshire self-sharpening scissors are still used but I’ve got a few other scissors I use for certain fabrics.

Prym scissors

2. Different types of scissors

I’ve always loved seeing those heavy tailoring scissors used at smaller shops. Those scissors are really heavy but cut through fabric like no one’s business.

These days I’m lucky to have a range of reliable Prym scissors to experiment with. I know there are lots of great brands out there and right now I’m enjoying having more than 1 pair of scissors to use for various fabrics.

Long nose small scissors

3. Scissors with really sharp points

So you know the angst you go through when cutting the opening of buttonholes, long nosed scissors help slice through such a small part of fabric. Have you found that some large scissors have a brilliant nose for cutting open button holes?

Are you a scissor brand fan or are you happy to buy scissors for a few quid at the local bargain shop?

I’ve had amazing success with a pair of scissors I bought at Daiso a few years ago.
