Have you been playing catch up this month? I have.

5 fabrics. I’ve been working on these 5 fabrics recently because I was working full time and studying full time since September (Diploma in Screen and Media in case you’re wondering). Who does such a crazy thing right?
In anticipation of the clothes I’ve now made, I’ll give you a brief rundown of what each fabric is like.
- Minerva Exclusive Brushstroke Blooms Linen Viscose Blend is so colour fast! I love the linen viscose blend and I honestly throught, hmmm….will this colour run? I can absolutely tell you this fabric holds its colour really well. There was no residual colour in the hand wash I did before cutting into this fabric.
- John Kaldor Hemione Crepe Fabric Green. I’m a green fan and any print on a black background is a good staple print to me. (spoiler alert) You’ll see how lovely the drape is on this fabric when I show you the dress and top.
- Minerva Core Range Washed Linen Cotton Blend fabric does crush easily but it also irons out beautifully. I’m a real fan of this dark purple colour and it’s really colour fast.
- Minerva Core Range Classique Duchess Satin Fabric. I over committed myself to make a pants suit for an awards night in November and that’s what I wanted this fabric for. This navy blue is timeless and I hope you like the first piece of this fabric when I reveal it to you shortly.
- Minerva Core Range Stretch Woven Club Linen Look viscose. I’ve now made one piece from this fabric and it is brilliant for our current Summer humid weather here in Australia. Great colour fastness and it’s been fun to manipulate and sew. You’ll see when I show you what I’ve made from it.
Since 2019 I’ve been podcasting (Sew Organised Style) and this year I was asked to be a judge for the industry awards – Australian Podcast Awards.
What you’ll see with each make is that during this time, I put on a bit of weight and so part of this sewing journey is about sewing clothes to help you during those times when you’re over committed, and you put on a few kilos. Right now I’m catching up on my sleep and getting back into a healthy routine
The beauty of these fabrics is that I’ve created a few pieces that fit my current body shape. That’s our sewing superpower – making clothes that fit us and make us feel good.
Follow my blog or my Minerva profile so you can see what I’ve made to get an idea of what you might want to add to your sewing queue in 2024.
