August plans

What am I working on today (#waiwot) is a tag developed by Julie Yost of @consistentlydifferentdesigns.

On the Minerva website, we call #waiwot a ‘sneak peek. At work we call this work in progress (WIP). How do you refer to projects you are working on?

Back to Julie, she’s a textile artist with a huge heart to keep our creative minds working.

What am I working on?

I’m working on creating ‘secret pyjamas’ using Minerva Exclusive Brushstroke Blooms Viscose Jersey Stretch Knit Fabric.

As you can see I’m working on another pair of Simplicity 9376 pants and New Look 6230 v-neck raglan sleeve top. Next to the fabric, I placed a solid colour fabric from my fabric stash to possibly create a second New Look top to pair with the pants.

You’ll have to follow this blog to see what I come up with mixing this print with solid colour fabric.

In July I made 3 pairs of woven pants using Simplicity 9376 and they are so comfy. This knit is super comfy too so I’ll try a different view of this pattern with a front drawstring feature. While I’m working on this fabric, I may renege on the front drawstring because that’s a dead pyjama giveaway.

The aim of secret pyjamas is ‘it is a secret’ to the people around you when you’re wearing your pjs. I will certainly overthink these 2 pieces of clothes using Minerva Exclusive Brushstroke Blooms Viscose Jersey Stretch Knit Fabric as I my sewing progresses.

My intention is to wear these 2 as cords when we head O/S in September.

My overlocker has just had a good service so I’m ready to crack on and make these two garments stat!
